Gluten-Free Cooking Series: Part III: Spring into healing---using food as your medicine

For those who have long suffered from gluten-sensitivity there is often more to healing than simply eliminating gluten from your diet. Join Chef Laura and Integrative Health Counselor, April Yancey, as we review the common health challenges brought on by years of damage from gluten sensitivity, and teach you about selecting delicious foods that will assist your gastrointestinal tract and immune system in healing, and reduce the inflammation in your body.

Delicious Healthy Cooking: Part II--The Goodness of Beans and Grains.

There is no question that eating whole grains and beans is beneficial to your health. Even people with diabetes get better control of their blood sugar by eating whole grains. Yet most of us aren’t familiar with cooking these foods and making it attractive and delicious. Join Chef Laura for this fun and informative class in how to prepare beans and whole grains. Laura will talk about food combining to create a complete protein meal and demonstrate some basic cooking techniques. And, yes, indeed, we’ll all get sit down together and enjoy Black Beans and Rice, Angel Hair Collards, Brazilian Salad, and Gluten-Free Chocolate Pound Cake with Orange Sauce. We’ll enjoy a pineapple-mint smoothie and sip on Caipirinha (khai-pi-ree-nya---a Brazilian lime-rum cocktail).
